Pharmacy Ratios - Wages Ratios

What is a reasonable wages ratio in pharmacy?

As a general rule, wages as a percentage of sales is about 13 to 14% (including owners but excluding on-costs).

The ratio will vary depending on shop size, service model, and trading hours.

  • Larger sites generally have higher staff costs
  • Pharmacies offering more service or advice will also have higher staff costs. Alternatively, those with a retail focus and perhaps a check-out, will have lower staff costs
  • Extended trading hours business will also have higher staff costs
